World Schools Team Chess Championship 2025 Returns – Now in the USA!
The FIDE World Schools Team Chess Championship is back — and this year, it’s heading to the United States!
After a successful debut in Kazakhstan in 2023, the 2025 edition will be held from August 2 to August 7 at Episcopal High School, just 11 km from downtown Washington, D.C.
This exciting global chess event is organized by FIDE in partnership with the International School Chess Federation (ISCF) and proudly supported by Freedom Holding Corp.
A Global Stage for School Chess Teams
Teams from schools all over the world will compete. Each team is nominated by their national federation and represents a general educational institution. The goal? To celebrate school-level chess and bring young talents together on an international stage.
The event is especially focused on supporting grassroots school chess clubs — helping them grow and connect with the global chess community.

Swiss system

Teams of 4 players + 1 reserve + 1 non-playing captain

Time control: 45 minutes + 10 seconds per move

Two games per day for four days

Alongside the tournament, FIDE will host the Smart Moves Summit — a powerful conference exploring the connection between chess and education.
