FIDE World Youth Championship 2025 Kicks Off in Durrës, Albania
The FIDE World Youth Chess Championship 2025 has officially begun in Durrës, Albania. The event, hosted at the Grand Blue Fafa Resort, brings together young talents from across the world in the U14, U16, and U18 categories.
Players, coaches, and officials from many countries gathered for a grand opening ceremony filled with excitement and pride. This tournament will run for two weeks, offering intense battles and unforgettable experiences for the stars of tomorrow.
The championship is organized by the Albanian Chess Federation in partnership with FIDE. It is one of the biggest sports events ever held in Albania and marks a major step forward for the country’s chess development.

Dana Reizniece praised Albania for its excellent organization and warm hospitality. She reminded everyone that youth championships are not only about trophies but also about friendship, discipline, and unity.
Other speakers wished the young players success and encouraged them to enjoy the experience, play fair, and create lasting memories.
