FIDE World Youth Chess Championships 2026: Registration Open

Registration is now open for the FIDE World Youth Chess Championships 2026. The event will take place in Montesilvano, Italy.

The tournament is organized by FIDE, the Italian Chess Federation, and UniChess. Players from around the world are invited to participate. The championship will run from June 14 to June 27, 2026. June 14 is the official arrival day. June 27 is the official departure day.

Each national chess federation can send one official player in six categories:

  • U14 Open

  • U14 Girls

  • U16 Open

  • U16 Girls

  • U18 Open

  • U18 Girls

That means six players per country can be officially registered. Each team can also have one Head of Delegation with a valid FIDE ID.

Some players already have a direct right to participate:

  • The top three players from the previous World Youth Championships in U14, U16, and U18.

  • The previous gold medalists, who can either stay in their age group or move up.

  • The champions of the last Continental Youth Championships.

The registration deadline is April 7, 2026. This is also the last date to submit visa documents.

The event will not be only about chess. There will be fun activities like:

  • Beach visits

  • Excursions

  • Blitz chess tournament

  • Football match

  • Other team activities

Players will get a full summer experience along with strong chess competition.
