Boban Đurović, the mayor of Vrnjačka Banja, also addressed the audience. Andrija Jorgić, president of Serbia’s Chess Federation, officially closed the championship.
Jorgić reminded the players, “Chess is a knight’s game. The person across from you is not your enemy but your opponent.”
Serbia – A Chess Destination
This was not Serbia’s only big chess event. In November 2025, the country will host the FIDE World Amateur Chess Championship. Serbia continues to grow as a global chess hub.
