Zone 3.3 Zonals Championship Win by Tin Jingyao and Shafira Devi Herfesa

Grandmaster Tin Jingyao of Singapore and International Master Uurtsaikh Agibileg of Mongolia have win Zone 3.3 Zonals Championship! Both scored 7 points and claimed the two qualifying spots for the 2025 FIDE World Cup.

IM Sugar Gan-Erdene of Mongolia also scored 7 points but finished third on tiebreaks.

The Zone 3.3 Zonals Championship was held from 22 April to 2 May 2025 in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. The event was organized by the Mongolian Chess Federation, supported by the Asian Chess Federation and FIDE.

A total of 109 players competed. This included 54 men and 55 women from seven countries: Mongolia, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Hong Kong, and the Philippines.

The prize fund was $15,000 in total. The men’s division had $9,000 in prizes, while the women’s division had $6,000.

Mongolian Chess Federation President Gombojav Zandanshatar and Zone 3.3 President GM Utut Adianto of Indonesia officially opened the tournament with ceremonial first moves.

In the women’s section, Shafira Devi Herfesa of Indonesia and Enkh-Amgalan Enkhrii of Mongolia both scored 7 points. Herfesa won the World Cup spot thanks to superior tiebreaks.
