Nodirbek Abdusattorov bounced back with a strong win over Parham Maghsoodloo in Round 7 of the 2nd UzChess Cup Masters 2025. He got a better position early and never let go of the advantage. This win puts him back as the sole leader with 5 points out of 7.

Sindarov Punishes Queen Exchange

Sindarov played fearlessly against Aravindh. Keeping his king in the center, he controlled the board. Aravindh’s mistake—trading queens—led to a fast downfall.

Abdusattorov’s Dominance Over Maghsoodloo

This was Abdusattorov’s fifth win against Maghsoodloo in classical chess. The World Rapid 2021 champion got a comfortable position out of the opening. Maghsoodloo’s artificial castling couldn’t save the game, and his position collapsed quickly.

Arjun vs Rapport: A Safe Draw

Arjun Erigaisi and Richard Rapport had a peaceful draw. After an early queen trade, Rapport placed his king on a3, but it remained safe. Neither side could break through, and the game ended in a draw.

Praggnanandhaa vs Nepomniachtchi: Another Balanced Battle

The draw between Praggnanandhaa and Nepomniachtchi followed their pattern of solid games. Though Prag launched an ambitious kingside attack with 22…h4,

it fizzled out and the game went into a quiet bishop endgame.

Yakubboev Fights Back

Nodirbek Yakubboev was in trouble against Shamsiddin Vokhidov but managed to save half a point. Vokhidov missed his chances, and Yakubboev showed great defensive skills to earn the draw.

Challengers and Futures Updates

  • GM Nikolas Theodorou continued to lead the Challengers with 5.5/7 after drawing against GM Nijat Abasov.

  • In the Futures section, GM Ortik Nigmatov suffered his first loss against GM Boris Chatalbashev but still leads with 4.5/7.
