2nd World Youth Chess Solving Championship 2026: Registration Now Open

The registration for the 2nd World Youth Chess Solving Championship 2026 is officially open. The exciting event will take place in Montesilvano, Italy, on June 16, 2026.
The championship is organized by FIDE, the World Federation for Chess Composition (WFCC), the Italian Chess Federation, and UniChess. The tournament will begin at 10:00 AM local time and will be held during the World Youth Chess Championship (WYCC) 2026.
Young Chess Solvers Ready for Action
The competition will be played between the first and second rounds of the WYCC 2026. Players will compete in the same age categories used in the over-the-board championship:
- Under 14
- Under 16
- Under 18
Separate rankings will be available for the Open and Girls categories. Girls who wish to compete in the Open category can do so by informing the organizers before the event begins.
Championship Solving Format
Each age category will receive a different set of 8 chess problems to solve.
The format includes:
- 3 mate-in-two problems
- 2 mate-in-three problems
- 1 mate-in-four problem
- 2 endgame studies
Players will have 90 minutes to solve all the positions.
