FIDE July 2026 Rating List Released

The new FIDE July 2026 rating list is now official. Several major tournaments played a big role in the latest rankings. These included the Norway Chess tournament, Asian Individual Chess Championship, European Women’s Chess Championship, UzChess Cup, and the French Team Finals.

Changes in the Open Top 10

There was only one major change in the Open top 10 rankings. American Grandmaster Wesley So climbed two places after finishing runner-up at Norway Chess 2026.

Indian star R Praggnanandhaa also impressed fans. He gained 15 rating points after winning Norway Chess 2026 and is now very close to entering the Open top 10.

Big Changes in Women’s Rankings

The Women’s top 10 saw several exciting changes. Kazakh chess star Bibisara Assaubayeva won Norway Chess Women and gained 11 rating points. She reached a career-best fifth place in the world rankings.

Former Women’s World Champion Alexandra Kosteniuk returned to the Women’s top 10 after two and a half years thanks to her strong performance in the French Team Finals.

Biggest Rating Gainers

The biggest rating increase came from Ukrainian talent Anastasiia Hnatyshyn. The 16-year-old shocked the chess world by winning the European Women’s Championship in Batumi, Georgia. She was seeded only 76th before the event but gained an incredible 214 rating points.

Her amazing performance pushed her to 18th place in the women’s rankings. She also became the top-ranked player in the Girls U20 category. Other players who gained major rating points include:

  • Nadya Toncheva (+27)
  • Rakshitta Ravi (+27)
  • Zarina Nurgaliyeva (+27)
  • Mahammad Muradli (+25)
  • Pranesh M (+22)
  • Savitha Shri B (+20)
  • Shamsiddin Vokhidov (+18)
  • Klaudia Kulon (+18)
  • Aamuktha Guntaka (+17)

Indian Players Continue to Shine

Indian chess players delivered strong performances in international events. Rakshitta Ravi, Savitha Shri B, and Aamuktha Guntaka gained valuable rating points at the Asian Women’s Championship.

Pranesh M had an excellent event at the French Team Finals Top 16. He gained 22 rating points and entered the Open top 50 for the first time in his career.

UzChess Cup Performances

Uzbek Grandmaster Shamsiddin Vokhidov narrowly missed the UzChess Cup Masters title after losing the tiebreaks. Still, he gained 18 rating points.

Meanwhile, Azerbaijani GM Mahammad Muradli dominated the Challengers section. He gained 25 points and entered the Open top 100 for the first time.

Rapid Rating List Updates

The FIDE World Team Rapid and Blitz Championships in Hong Kong had a huge impact on the Rapid and Blitz rating lists. World number one Magnus Carlsen remains at the top of the Rapid Open rankings despite losing some rating points.

French-Iranian star Alireza Firouzja climbed to second place after gaining 16 rating points in Hong Kong.

Arjun Erigaisi and Levon Aronian also moved up in the rankings. R Praggnanandhaa gained 27 points and entered the Rapid Open top 20. In the Women’s Rapid rankings, Bibisara Assaubayeva climbed three places.

Several players made huge jumps in the rankings, including:

  • Aleksandra Maltsevskaya
  • Teodora Injac
  • Deimante Daulyte-Cornette
  • Alua Nurman
  • Anna Agrest
  • Yan Tianqi

Blitz Rating Highlights

Uzbek superstar Nodirbek Abdusattorov was one of the biggest winners in blitz ratings.

He gained 35 rating points during the Hong Kong event and climbed to second place in the Blitz Open rankings behind Magnus Carlsen.

Other players who made strong progress in blitz ratings include:

  • Arian Tari
  • Jaime Santos Latasa
  • Sergey Movsesian
  • Amin Tabatabaei
  • Vojtech Plat
  • Viktor Erdos

In the Women’s Blitz rankings, Aleksandra Goryachkina climbed to second place after gaining 21 rating points.

Chinese player Song Yuxin gained 32 points and entered the Women’s Blitz top 10 for the first time.

Other strong performers included:
