American Grandmaster Hans Niemann won the first event of the 2026 Grand Chess Tour, the Super Rapid & Blitz Poland tournament in Warsaw.
This was Niemann’s first-ever appearance in the Grand Chess Tour as a wildcard player. He delivered a brilliant performance against some of the world’s strongest chess players and finished in first place.

The Super Rapid & Blitz Poland tournament officially opened the 11th season of the Grand Chess Tour. The event took place in Warsaw, Poland, from May 3 to May 10. It featured:

- A prize fund of $200,000
The tournament included five full-tour players and five wildcard players.
